couple of quick questions. i have had the car since june so i dont know what happens, im close to the inspection miles, about 100 miles to go. i want to know what happens if i dont go to a bmw dealer to get that done. and does that mean oil change and the same ol crap of checking tires, wipers and bs things like that or is it important? part two of that is if its simple things, can i take it to my mechanic for oil change and those small things and not have any problems (he knows how to fix bmws). i also want to know the exact way that i can connect a dvd player to the navigation system because i was told that i can.

Which inspection are you talking about? If it's inspection I (30K miles) it's covered by BMW. If it's inspection II or something else, I'm not sure what to tell you. Guess it depends how well this mechanic knows BMW's - does he have the computer to reset the service indicator?

Surely there's mechanics out there that can work on BMW's other than the ones at the dealership - just make sure you trust them.
