i was looking thru "bmw monthly" here in the uk,,,and there was a question in there about oil..
andd the answer that came back was "bmw recommend only using "SLX4" oil for their cars...
what is SLX4?? i cant find anything on it over the net...... i have seen castrol edge SLII .!!!
but not SLX4 any ideas????[/QUOTE
It is about approval numbers for BMW oil specification. So far we had BMW LL98, LL01 and the newest one, you are asking for is BMW LL04, that is what Castrol addopted this spec. for his new SLX line, it is called Castrol SLX LL04 SAE 0W-30 with `Clean Performance Technology` it is "energy conserving" oil with lower viscosity index suitable for new BMW equipped with "valvetronic" system on their engines. So if you grab a bottle of oil, so far you had BMW LL01 approval on SLX , now you will find on the bottle BMW LL04 approval.
