hey people im new here and im only 15 years old.. im getting my license in about 2 months n im probably gonna get a E46 330ci 325ci or a 323ci at least but ive been reading around the internet n it seems like a lot of the used/new bmws have a lot of problems? so to the owners of the E46s now .. what do u guys think? does ur car give u a lotta shit? or.. wut plz respond guys
I have had few problems with mine. I have had alot more problems with my wife's 01 Jetta 1.8t. There are a few common issues, but there are problems with all cars. Look at a Ford Focus and be glad that you do not own the more recalled car in history.

No problems with mine, but I've had it two days now
Seriously though: your first car should be one that has some problems, because then you learn how to fix them before you are TOTALLY on your own and stuck with a car problem ....
part of the reason you may see so many posts on the internet by BMW owners is because we tend to be very "involved" with our cars and thus we get "concerned" when something isn't perfect.
How many people do you know that will park in the last row of a parking lot just to be sure no one parks next to them and dings their door? ghead

What you see on internet is typically problems. Misery loves company.
If you had a problem free car, would you post on the internet,
"I have a fantastic problem free car. Does anyone have problem free car like mine? Why don't these dang BMWs every breakdown! I am having too much fun. I am so pleased, I am going to phone up BMW NA to tell them how fun BMWs are!"
If people did, world would be a much better place. (Yes I do breathe too much exhaust fumes. From BMW exhaust, it should be mostly CO2, H2O, N02 and trace amount of CO. Then again, you can't smell CO . . .)
Show me a car without problems and I will show you a concept vehicle.
Every car has its problems. Heck every mechanical thing will have its share of problems. Thats why we have tech support and warranty and insurance. Anyways yeah BMWs tend to have more problems (it appears so) caus the friggin krauts have packed in so much computer stuff under the hood (try and remember how many time your windows crashed in the last year). Usually all the probelms are limited to the electrical and sensor glitches. Mostly are fixed cheaply some do require a wad of dough but hey who says luxury does not have a price. Look at it like dating CINDY CRAWFORD........she will expect some maintanance but when it comes bed time---------ummmphhhhhhhh.......i think that sez it all
BOTTOMLINE: I have had my 01 325xi for 1 month and I would not dream of driving anything else from now on even if my beemer broke down in a thousand pieces tomorrow!

ive had my used car for 2 years, no serious problems. The problems that have occured were all taken care of under warranty (problems which are common to any bmw, new or used).
i suggest buying a Certified Pre Owned BMW. Its a little more, but I think its worth it
No problem man.. Back in 2000 I bought 97 328is used it more than 3 years sold it with 95K miles and bought 2000 323ci still enjoying it every mile of it... I love BMW. I also bought used Mini Cooper and still BMW and still no problems. I guess I am too lucky. Good luck.. I recommend all kind of BMW.
