Program Key To Open Garage

I searched, but was not able to find the answer in the first several matches returned.

I just bought a 99 323i for a daily, and the previous owner lost the Owner's Manual. While I had the trunk open, I noticed I had a badge that said something about garage door opener. Whatever it said, it did not say "pre-wired" like a couple of the others, so this lead me to believe I have this feature. Correct?

Next question is, how do I program the key to open my garage? If you tell me I have to go to the dealer for this, I'm going to give the car to my girlfriend, because that's a bunch of crap.

What all can I program the key to do, and how?

The car is prewired for a univ garage door opener (UGDO) however it s separate from the key. You would have to purchase the UGDO which installs in the headliner next to the sunroof switch. It has 3 buttons to allow 3 different units it can be programmed to and cost around $130 from the dealer. There is no dealer coding necessary and it is a fairly easy DIY to do.

There is nothing fancy you can do with your remote keys. What you see is what you get. If you havent fig'd it out already you can roll down all the windows and open sunroof by holding down the unlock button for several seconds. You can close all windows and sunroof by inserting key in driver's door and holding it to lock position for several seconds. Thats bout it.
