Power Steering Failure The power steering pump on my 2004 330ci with 67K miles is whining like a dog. Currently it isn't under warranty (it'll be in effect in 30 days) so I'm thinking about changing it myself. I have worked on my cars in the past but never on my BMW. I have the tools and I'll need the service manual however my main concern is that maybe this job is to involved. Do I need any special tools? I do not have the manual to see what is all involved in replacing the pump. The garage I took it to informed me that it would cost $1100 and they would have to change the pressure line as well, is this true? Is the pump hard to get at? I just spent $1300 on it last week for other problems now this! I would like to try and baby it until the warranty goes in effect. Is there anything I can do to kill the whining and quiet it, then again I would hate for it to fail on me in use. I'm collecting my coins as I write this... |
