Power Programmer?!

Hi,

I would usually not even think about it. But since I have an 03 325i laying around useless, I thought maybe I could have some fun with it. And just a few minutes ago I saw it on TV that they took a 364 hp ford to 407 hp within less than one minute by reprogramming it with a device from hypertech. That is an increase of 43 hp within seconds.

Is there such a thing for my car too? if yes, how much does it increase the hp? and is it safe?

chances are that the commercial you saw was for a deisel Ford. which those programmers are great for american deisels but i doubt that there is anything on the market that you can just plug in and get that much of a diffrence. the BMW engines are pretty much tuned to thier max as they are. don't get me wrong i'm sure that if you got a chip or some Dinan software there would be something of an increase but nothing near 43HP. you can however get hardware AND software that are made to go together and get some decent gains. as in hardware i mean CAI's, mufflers,and even as drastic as a super charger.

Dinan or using the Conforti software will give you around 9 HP of additional power. However, if you have an automatic tranny, they will remap it and often you will discover you have more spirit response in first gear at lower RPM's, which is nice. I Dinan'd my 528i and I did notice a difference I like, but it is an "overwhelming" difference. For that sink into your seat difference there are three ways you can go, supercharge it, turbocharge it, double turbocharge it.
