Is it possible to watch DVDs on the e46 NAV?

When I bought my BMW last October the salesman told me it is possible to watch DVD movies on the nagivation system. He told me that ''legally'' he could not tell me how to do it, but it's possible and the information is available on the net. The trunk has the DVD insertion where the map DVD goes. Does anyone have any information on how you get this to work? If I try to watch a DVD movie right now nothing happens, no sound, no video. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

you got got. There is no hidden menu to enable Video on the navi screen. the only way to do it is to purchase and install aftermarket equipment or a Euro factory TV tuner. Niether option comes free.
