Possible New 330ci Owner

i am looking to purchase a 2002 to 2003 330ci.just wondering,are these cars reliable?most that i am looking at still have about 1 to 2 years left on the warranty.do you guys suggest getting an extended warranty?also if i buy from a private party,can i go to bmw and buy an extended warranty through them?any suggestions would be appreciated.i have owned nissans and infinitis in the past,and they were very reliable,so i am a little concerned about the bmw.i know the older ones were o.k.,but have heard some of the newer ones have some issues.thanks

and it has been good as gold for 2yrs now,,with no probs what so ever,,and the sound is fantastic

we all have issues ghead

bmw is not as reliable as nissan/toyota/honda. this being said, what tends to go early on e46 cars is relatively obvious and replaceable (control arms)

long term, bmw tends to do poorly on radiators and water pumps (e36 data), but with plenty of warning, and little pissant electrical stuff (window regulators etc).

however: i have not yet driven a japanese car available in the u.s. which can deliver 1% of driving pleasure of a bmw e46. go buy it, it will not dissapoint you.

imho, extended warranty is almost always a waste of money (does not cover what you need covered, and little stuff that goes wrong is amost always chaper out of pocket).

i am guessing you have never driven a g35?it really is a great car.it dosnt have the quality interior of the bimmer though.how does 27.5k for a 2002 330ci w/13k miles sound?let me know what ya think.thanks

I had the G35 coupe.. I would strongly recommend against that car. Its might as well be an american muscle car.. It has no luxury features.. the seats dont even go back to what postition they were if someone sits in the back. It guzzled gas and just a big disappointment. 330ci is the way to go, way more fun to drive although it doesn't sound like a g35 it definitly drives and feels better.
