Poor power

Good Day!
I have a 2000 323i with manual transmission. The car seems to have poor power on initial take-off until about 1500-2000 RPM, then it is fine. I have to ride the clutch somewhat when I pull away or the engine bogs. It's as if I'm not getting spark advance. It just doesn't seem right for the ultimate driving machine.

Try using 1st gear to pull away instead of 3rd..... :lol:

Seriously though, I can't imagine why that is happening. Could be worth checking the fuel pump and hoses, likewise the air filter and sensor. Get your BMW dealer to do an inspecII and diagnostic at the next service.

i think it's a general fact that BMW's have poor low end pickup.

not exactly sure what you can do to improve that, maybe power pulleys or a new flywheel.

i have a 2000 323ci and my 1st gear is pretty quick....3rd gear gets a bit slow tho

well, when i use step mode and im running over 2500 rpm in first, i can hit the gas and feel the power, but from a dead stop, you can tell the car is moving, just nothing impressive until midway through gear.

thats how mine is at least.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Until I get in for service, I will try starting off in 1st gear.
