I bought a rebuilt car and I am now trying to get it registered, however, the break light was covered up by the seller and now have found out the dsc sensor under the drivers seat needs to be replaced. However, when the dealship went to replace it they found that there was not one there and the bar that goes across the car was covering the whole where it is suppose to go. I have contacted a lawyer and been down that road, Without going into all the dirty details, the bottom line is if I can't get the car fixed then I am screwed.... This sensor is for the trackion to help stop the car from sliding, can anyone tell me where I could take it to have it fixed (I live in Atlanta, Georgia) or if I could have it turned off so the break light will go out and I can get the car registered. I have been told that it will not make the car unsafe if's it not there. I don't know if a body shop or frame shop could fix this or not or how much it would cost.
I am desperate here.... I don't want to have my BMW just sitting in my drive way. Can anyone help me .... any suggestions are welcome.
Also, can you be a little more explanatory in telling us what your problem is. It's kinda hard to visualize it. It sounds like someone committed a fraud on you.
The DSC system having a fault, or being inoperable should have no bearing on getting the car registered. Sure, it would be safer to drive if you got into an emergency situation, but it's not necessary at all.
If the mounting area for the sensor has been jacked up, it needs to be reworked to fit the sensor in the original position, or it won't work.
it only has a bearing on getting the car registered because when you buy a rebuilt car, Georgia requires a state inspection before they will allow you to register the car. The inspector has rejected the car because the break light is on. The dealership is telling me that it's because of the dsc sensor. So it sounds like I need to get the floor pan replaced or the bar moved so that the sensor can be put in the correct place. So it can't be mounted at another spot?
I tried to get the light reset but we have found that the floor pan has to be completely replaced, as the sensors will not reset because of the damage done to the floor pan. The damage is bad on the drivers side that the sensors cannot be mounted correctly. Anyway does anyone know where I can get a replacement floor pan for a 330I 2001?
I have it at a body shop right now and they are telling me that they are having a problem finding one. Stupid me thought you could just order it????
