PLEASE HELP PROBLEM W/My 330ci - BMW Forum

Ok guys/ girls... i really need help here. I just joined the E46 class crew.=) But im having this problems with my car already. Please help if you have ever heard of such a problem.

It happens every now and then... first make a model. Bmw 330ci 2001 auto.
When im at a stop, sometimes i mean sometimes the car stalls out and stops running. I have to stick it back in Neutral and then start the car again. Sometimes it has a hard time starting and when it does, i stick it back into drive and accelerate it shuts off again. This happens every so often.

Also when im driving it sounds like the intake is trying to suck alot of air which gets louder and then accelerates hard. like lagg or some what.

anyone heard of this problem or even experienced this problem please help me! i dont want to spend thousands of dollars taking into BMW and them ripping me off.

First of all do you have a check engine light on??? Next when was the last time you did a tune up!?

Um no i dont have a check engine light on. I just have a service engine check light that came on. Im kinda new to BMW's so i dont really know if they is considered check engine light. Last time i did a tune up was 130xxx.

you need to get that service engine light checked out to see what code the ecm is logging, after you find out the code you will have an idea of what is going on with her!

you need to get the code read to help pin pont the problem. hard to diagnose over the web. but off hand it sounds like a vacuum leak or maybe a bad MAF?

bad spark plug wire(s) maybe shorting? plugs? coil could be dieing?

is it ever tough to start? or does it start every time? if so, it's probably the cam sensor. if not, it could be a lot of things. best to take it to your local tech and have them read your fault codes, should give you some indication of the issue. hope this helps

The only thing i can think of with the intake noise is that the fan clutch can be getting stuck!

If so, it could break your fan blades off then break pretty much everthing in the front of the engine.

Coolant systems suck for e46
happened to me and was very expensive to fix.

Check for leaking intake gasket.
