Please advice History not available .. is it ok

Hi,
I am about to buy a 2001 318i SE with 45000 miles in Dublin. The agent says he does not have history of the car ..as it is imported from UK leasing company and they does not provide history of leased cars.
Overall the car is good and price is 26K Euros . Am I save to go ahead . Please advice

The car needs to be inspected by an independent BMW dealer/mechanic and provide you with a detailed report of its condition.

imo, I wouldn't buy a used car unless it was a CPO, had the maint. records or inspected.

Can you get the VIN? If you know where the car lived, maybe you can call some of the local dealers, give them the VIN and see if it's in their computer.

I will ask for VIN and area details ...though I am in the different country, as the car is imported from UK and I am in Ireland. It will be very difficult to approach UK dealers from this end .
Yes there are other cars in the same range, but with lesser spec ..like sport steering ,auto a/c etc. Also, when I took a test drive the MPG was showing as 7.1 .... when I enquired the agent said ..if Tank is refilled it will be alright .. Is this true. He says I will get more than 40 miles per gallon.

i doubt more than 40 miles per gallon, but maybe arould or below 40 when highway driving
