I just bought a 1999 328i 5speed. Prior to purchasing it, I test drove a 2000 328I (also 5 speed) and it seems a lot faster than my car. My clutch is not slipping, but needs a new release bearing, so I'm replacing teh clutch. I am also thinking of getting the conforti shark injector from Turner. Has anyone tried this upgrade, and what results can I expect? Is there any other reasonably-priced upgrade I should consider?
I have a 2000 323i and I have the shark injector installed on mine. The biggest differance i noticed was I can now get to about 65 mph in 2nd gear, i was in germany(where i bought the car), so on the autobahn i was able to get about 145mph before I let off...little scary that fast. I also have UUC twin silencer exhaust, UUC short shifter, Cold air intake, and my heads are ported along with performance valves and springs...due to a valve job from a miss shift. Im looking into getting the supercharger once i get the problems i have fixed.
shark is a nice first mod, remember as a footnote that you will have to use premium fuel after using the shark to avoid knock. You gain a few hp and a bit of torque, the biggest gain being the removal of the limiter, and raising your RPM rev limit a few hundred.
But is it really worth it though, I mean, it's not like your really going to GAIN anything special? Just a few Hp points and just a few pounds of torque. Removing the limiter.... can't do much with that here in the US, and rasing the RPM's a few is good I guess, but really though, is it honestly worth the money that is being paid forward? Do you get better fuel economy? The engine wouldn't sound more aggressive, right. I know this sounds like a noobie question, but still, I've wondered about the shark injectors. If you purchase one, and your buddy wants one, could you use the same injector again on his car? Just seems like it should be used more than once to be worth that price tag.

Thanks, Folks. Does anyone have an idea how the Shark Injector compares to the Dinan Chip? Would a supersprint or remus exhaust in combination with the shark make a big difference? So far, it does not appear anyone has had any buyer's remorse with the shark.
Well as I said before the biggest differance to me was the rev limiter, I have Gtech and i did runs with the injector software and with out and it gave me about half a second better times, a quicker launch and longer times in the gears. Max HP is at about 6700rpm which is what the injector gives you. You cannot use it in another car, once you install it in your car it remembers your info and can only be put on that car. I did have one bad instance with it though, I brought my car in to the dealer while it was under warranty for a problem..(that im still having, see my other post "help with MDK") and they reprogrammed my computer with "updated" software. After that the injector no longer worked. I actually talked to Jim Conforti myself and he was able to get my injector reset so I could use it again. But other then that, I i would recommend for a first mod, its alittle pricy but what isnt for a bmw. As far as only using premium after the upgrade...who would own a BMW and use less?
