We were on a road trip stopped at rest area, got back into car and smelled burning smell from passenger seat - the car was turned off. I quickly pulled the fuses to the seat heaters and the movement-position control. I also unplugged about 3 different electrical connections under the seat. The motor which is furthest to the front which I believe tilts the back rest forward and back was extremely hot. The motor finally cooled down and the smell went away.
There is a possiblity that a water bottle that was laying on the side of the seat could have pushed onto a control button and kept it operating until the motor got so hot it burned up?? Does that sound plausible?
The car is about 4 months out of warranttee.
Later I put the fuses back in, reconnected the wires, and no operation of the back rest at all (dead).
Any advice is appreciated.
