Paint Protection Film Swirl Marks

Hello all,

I am contemplating installing a paint protection film (aka "clear bra") on the entire hood and front bumper. I already have quite a few minor rock chips on the bumper, and I'm trying to control the damage.

When I talked to an installer, he mentioned that the clear bra cannot be polished using any form of abrasive polish. So any inevitable swirl marks have to be hidden using filler wax or something similar. Apparently, any machine polishing will burn the film.

I asked him if there is a particular brand that can tolerate machine polishing to remove the swirls, and he said that there is none.

So I just wanted to verify with you all here to make sure that the guy isn't feeding me nonsense. If I cannot polish the film, then it will be an issue since the swirl marks will only get worse with time and look ugly.

Take it off... BMW's don't like gimmicks... If you love your car then spend that bit extra and get a high-grade wash/polish product, trust me, you will be proud of your results !
