Just bought a 2005,325i, and the dealer convinced me to buy this paint protection which is supposed to protect against bird droppings and uv etc. Kinda like a permenant wax job, which is what i am lead to believe...
Cost $450 cdn. came with a 5year warranty.
Does anyone have an opinion on this product? worth $450cdn? total waste of money?

Well it sounds like you said...its like a permanent wax job....only thing i am not sure what wax job is permanent? And how would this job prevent paint injury by bird droppings short of magnetically repeling the bird shit.....bird shit still will fall. I aint paying no 200 bucks for something lke that. Besides your car comes with a 5 year paint warranty under manufacturer's CPO......why wud yu wanna buy this stuff unless it was a used car. I have a 2001 Bimmer and the paint on still looks as good as the day I bought it...bird shit UV and all. Anyways I wud say yur dealer just wrangled 400 hundred cnd outta yu....but hey now that yuve paid for it...what can i say.....all the best for the paint protection dude ...let us know what happens in five years. and WELCOME to the forums!
got her to cancel the order for the paint 'whatever'... wasnt a factory thing anyway, and can be put on at any time... was quite the effort getting her to cancel it... I think I severly pissed her off... oh, well... Thanks for the opinion...
definitely not worth it. good call to cancel that. much better things you can spend $450 on. working at a shop u'd be surprised how many customers come up to us after the repair and advise us that when they got their vehicle they purchased the paint protection package from the dealer. i cant bring myself to tell them they wasted their money.
