Oil Overfill

When I changed my oil in August the parts guy told me a 330xi was 8 quarts. I put in 8 quarts and thought that was that. I read a procedure recently on some site for changing oil for an e46 and they said to measure it a few times to make sure you don't overfill and that it was bad, so I measured my oil level today. It's over the 'full' part of the dipstick, though not by much. How bad is this?

Gulelin. If it's a little over, don't worry about it. I get
my oil changed at the dealer and it's always over by
about 1/8 of an inch. There's always alot of space
between the crankshaft and the full mark on a dipstick.
All manufactures will state to not overfill because people
might put a quart or litre over the capacity.
Also, when the engine is running, oil is circulating
through the engine which reduces the level in the
crankcase anyways.
