oil light coming on. - BMW Forum

The oil light comes on sometimes but there is plenty of oil in engine. when ignition is switched on oil light is red but when it comes on while running it is orange, does this have any significance? anybody got any ideas. regards AA

the oil level sensor is broken.

It is located on the back of the oil pan under the engine.

I paid $80 for it a year ago I believe.

Orange means you are one quart low.

So I assume this orange display is a wrong reading because the sensor in the oil pan is faulty!!! regards AA
