Hello, I've purchased the Amsoil 0 30 syn and have a new filter. My question, do I really need to change the crush washer on drain plug? I don't have one, should I wait to do the change until I have a new crush washer? TIA diggerdog

You can get away with it once, if the crush washer is not crushed to the point where it is mushroomed.

I buy the Mann filters in bulk, they do come with a new crush washer & O ring..
There's an old saying when the Germans say 19nm they don't mean 18 and they damn sure don't mean 20; that having been said, go buy the crush washer and while you are at it, get about 10 of them; unless of course you like leaks.
... And why are you using a bogus oil like "amsol'? Smarten up!!! You've got a $30K+ machine. Why not use EXACTLY what BMW says to use? Do you sell this crap, too?
Why are you using an oil that doesn't meet the critical oil spec for your engine (ACEA A3 and LL01)?

Amsoil meets and exceeds the BMW specs and I can get you many mechanics that swear by it. I'm close to 100K miles and I've only used Amsoil. There was a debate on this over on e46fanatics.com and Amsoil has a huge backing. Just because its not on BMW's list doesn't make it crap....
