oil change

Hello,
I'm jsut wondering what it means when my car is telling me when 12450 oilservice comes up. After, that it states 96. It's a 2001 BMW 325i. Also, the 12450 is counting down. My light only flashes from time to time aswell. Thank You.

I'm not really familiar with the codes and what they mean. I even tried looking them up and didn't really find much either. When was the last time you changed your oil BTW?

It is just telling you how many miles to go before your next oil service is due. The 96 that appears afterwards will depend on what you have your OBC set up for at the time. I am assuming it is probably the outside temperature. Do you have access to your car's manual? All the OBC functions are explained there. Otherwise, you can download a copy from bmwna. com.

Good luck!

Isn't 12,400 miles a long time for an oil change?

Yes, it is. Most everyone here will recommend you that you do an oil change in between the indicated interval, every 6000 - 7500 miles or so.
