I recently got an oil change at valvoline, I think i will go there from now on, I am using 5w40 full synthetic (that ok), they want me to change it every 3,000 miles, isnt it supposed to go 7,500 and should change it every 5,000?

Do not be fool by anybody. Look what Valvoline says about an oil change on BMW E46 models-link below:
20 000 km or 24 months, which is 12 500 miles or 24 months.
Cheers
Note: if link not working, go to www.valvoline.nl. choose english language, then click, consult advisor, put in provided field your car model and you will know everything!
At production date 10/1999 BMW extended the service interval of their entire product range the main reason for this was the advancement made by Castrol in producing their FE long life oil. I always recommend using recommended oils. Then you can use the SII (service interval indicator) to determine when to service your car. The SII takes its info from the injection rates so it can’t be wrong.
