OEM Wheels

Hello: I am new to the forum. Just picked up a CPO 2004 330Ci with only 777 miles on it.

Dealer said to stay with OEM wheels. Thoughts?

I am looking to replace the 17" that came on the car.

welcome to werkz

Nice ride - If you want to change your wheels, my advice would be, dont go bigger than 18 x 8J for the front, and dont go bigger than 18 x 8.5J for the rear.

I say this because your car is not the ZHP or "M Sport" model, so the wishbone ball joints and other suspension components may not be able to cope with wheels bigger than 18".

Also, if you want to go any bigger than 18", and want to keep the ride comfort, the total diameter of the wheel and tire will increase, and you will therefore have to get your speedometer re-calibrated, to ensure that it shows your actual speed.

Edit: If you do want to have a bigger a offset than 8J for the front or 8.5J for the back, then you will need to get spacers, and longer lug nuts so that you can push the wheels out to stop them from rubbing against the inside of the wheel wells

Thanks. It does have the Sports Package option for whatever that's worth. I am hoping to find a wheel and tire package that can be a bolt on application (like TireRack) but am concerned about using non OEM wheels. Dealer told me it could effect the CPO warranty due to brake cooling issues.

Oh sorry - my bad - from the picture you posted, the front bumper and side-skirts are the non-sport ones, so I assumed, your car was not the sport model, but maybe the suspension is the same as the sport suspension, i dunno

As far as brake cooling issues go, I've never heard of such things being caused by aftermarket wheels. Maybe the dealer is just a player-hater

Can anybody else shed some light into this whole "aftermarket wheels affecting brake cooling" thing? its new to me...
