obd-II port? - BMW Forum

hey i need some help guys im looking for my OBD-II port, i see a OBD port under where my steering wheel is but it doesnt say its my OBD-II port so i am wondering if this was it or if i have another one somewhere else in the car, i drive a 2001 318i thanks for any info u can supply me with

As far as I know there will be 16 pin looks like a serial port under the steering and a 20 pin port under the hood/bonnet which is under a black screw on cap approx 75mm dia.

ok thanks i kno of the one under my steering wheel but not sure bout whether there was another one somewhere

ya just under the steering wheel. having 2 would be silly

Really, 7 series has 2 one under the steering for DME/ECU and one under the hood/bonnet for everything else including DME/ECU and Live diagnostics, so we have OBDI & II, I also believe some 5 series have both as well probably 1998-2002

really wow i had no idea, and it does sound right having one under the hood
