Noob Needing Some Advice

Hello everyone. I joined the site to get some advice from you BMW gods out there. a buddy of mine has a 1999 BMW 323i 5 Speed for sale. His father bought it brand new while he was living up in Canada. It has 185k on her. Black on black with stock 525 BBS style wheels on it. The known issue with the car is needs a ABS Sensor, possible starter and has a dent on the door. I wanted to know if there is anything I should be looking for on these cars. I never owned a BMW before. Been a Ford guy my whole life. Also, what makes the US model different from a Canada model. I assume running lights and the speedo for the most part. Any help would be great.

Thanks!!

Have a look in the E46 section. The first thing I'd check is the cooling system; it should have had a full over haul.

Isn't a 323i a E36?

It can be; there's some overlap around that model year. Got a pic?

Thanks!! So I guess I posted in the wrong section? lol Is there a mod that can move this tread then?

I'm also looking into any paperwork I might need as well because it's a Canadian car.

Is there anyone New York member around that can help out?

Thanks!!

Thread moved, and US Customs can likely help on paperwork issues.

yeah, it's gonna cost some money though.

i know to have it converted from euro spec costs around 2,000 euro.

they add a speed limiter and other things to the vehicle to make it boring...

well i'm not sure what they do to canadian models, but to the German BMW's that's teh process

2K is not bad to have the car converted. Also, that car looks like it is in great shape so if you can get it for a good price, I would go for it.
