No Reverse - BMW Forum

I am an owner of a 2001 330Ci for less than a year. I bought it with 63K. During a road trip this past week, I realized my reverse gear is lossing power. It seems the engine has to work entremely hard to move just a nudge. Anyways, I didn't think it was anything serious until I didn't some research online.

After reading about a possible 4000-5000 dollars of repair cost, I am pissed off because I've only put on 7k miles on it. I have totally lost confidence in this Barvarion company. Of course being a possible victim, I want BMW to recall so I can save some dough. Does anyone else have any news about this issue?

Time to baby that transmission. One of the running theories is driving "aggresively" by backing the car in reverse and then throwing it into drive without coming to a complete stop damages the transfer case. As such, I've started to come to complete stops out of reverse before shifting. I have almost 100K and haven't had any problems.

So a majority of the trany failures that we see discussed are ZF and not the GM types?? That'll be comforting news to me with my Feb 00 produced 323i.
