3-Series (E46, E90)Chat relating to the BMW 3-Series from 1999 to Current. Models include: BMW 316i, BMW 318i, BMW 318Ci, BMW 320i, BMW 323i, BMW 325i, BMW 330i, BMW 328 Ci, BMW 328i, BMW 325i/xi, BMW 330Ci, BMW 320d, BMW 330d, BMW 335d.
my neigbor has a 328ci with 17'' OZ superleggara wheels on it, but he has already ordered 18'' to fit his larger brakes he also ordered.
i have a 2001 330ci with the sport wheels seen below two of them are slightly damaged.
my wheels have new continentals (came with the car when i bought it) and his has almost new michilen pilot sports on the back and fronts will need to be replaced in a few thousand miles, he also would give me two brand new tires for the front.
he would trand me all that for my stock ones and $500 bucks
So 500 bucks for 4 Michelin Pilots (essentially new). Do you like his rims? Sorry, don't know what superleggras look like.
The way I see it, you have him over a barrel. He has already ordered his new rims, and chances are, his wife will be chewing his ass to sell his old ones. Plus, he won't even be able to use them anymore.
He can probably sell your wheels and tires (brand new tires) for around 800 dollars or more. Plus the 500 dollars he wants from you?
No, unless you just have to have his old wheels, I say counter his offer, or just stick with what you got. Those M68 wheels are some of the best looking wheels BMW ever made (although a pain to clean).
just looked at the superleggras. they are nice, but I still think you are in the drivers seat.
let us know what you did.

what type of tires do you have on your car? Continental what? If they are the ContiSportContacts, with the 280 treadware rating, they are great tires. I still have a set on my car and I love the way you can feel them gradually break free when getting on it on a curve. Also, they have worn pretty well, maintained their balance, I like them.
As far as the rash on your wheel, you may be able to get that fixed. There are people who can refinish the wheel. It probably won't be perfect, but minor enough it won't bother you anymore.
As far as the guy scaring you, if that is the case, then can you be sure he is going to live up to his part of the deal (getting you new front tires) etc.
