New today! '04 325i, 36k miles, Jet Black

The wife just bought this today. I like it a lot! I already have a need to spice it up a bit. I'm looking for the quick hits for HP and then the long term hits. I'm very mechanically inclined, as I've rebuilt/restored several American vehicles over the years.

What have you guys done? Easy stuff that I've done for other vehicles include Super Chips, cold air filters, headers, throttle body replacement, wheels/tires, exhaust.

I think this was rated at 186hp. I definitely want to move it from there!
Thanks a lot. I'm excited!!!
Rick

You've just named the quick hits on bimmers. Cold air intake, software, exhaust are usually the first three. Headers can be a bit pricey.

Long term hit would be a supercharger, I'd imagine.

There are lots of good wheels for the E46.

Welcome. Yes, pretty much what M3UOND said covers what can be bolted onto an E46. Since it only has the 2.5 engine, supercharging it is the best way to get power out of it. RoadsterMadness, a member here, supercharged his z3 2.5 (same engine as your 325) and he says that he's pushing ///M roadster power.

This is good stuff. Thanks! When you mention software. Are you talking about reprogramming the computer or installing a new chip? Who/what are the recommended vendors or suppliers for these?

Thanks again!

Software for these cars has to be a reflash of the computer. There are no swappable chip options. Dinan and Conforti have a good trajectory with that product.

you can also scoop up pulleys and a free flow exhaust.

i'd recomend checking out activeautowerkes, rogue engineering and uuc.

welcome to the family!
