Hey all,

Its time to replace the rear tires on 2001 325I. I have a few questions regarding replacement.

Since my car is rear wheel drive, the rear tires have worn a lot faster than the front ones. When I first bought my car, I asked the service agent at the dealer when the tires need to be rotated. He said that I should not rotate the tires on my car because it would mess up the finely tuned suspension. I was a bit skeptical, but I it also mentioned the same thing in the owners manual. So as a result, my rear tires are worn but my front tires still have betweet 60-70 percent tred on them.

My question is.....is it ok to just replace the rear tires on the car and still use my existing front tires until they are worn? If it is ok....I have another question, is it ok to replace the rear tires with a different brand of tire? I currently have the stock Continental sport tires (that come with the sport pkg). I checked a few places and they cost $200+ each to repleace. That has made be consider a cheaper tire (Toyo) that are about $130 a piece. Is this advisable?

Hello. The Continental tires are too expensive for what you get. I would recommend Michelin Pilot Sports A/S for an all season tire (just as expensive) or the tires I just purchased for the back of my 2000 323ci (Conti's still on the front), the Yokohama AVS ES100. I got them for $127.99 each, including mounting and stems at Discount Tire. They are great tires for the price and look even better.

Thanks TDLipsey. I stopped by discount tires and I can get the ones that you mentioned for $300 (for two) installed. It seems like a pretty good deal for the tire that ya get. They look pretty cool too.

Thanks for the advise.
