New guy questions....

Hey all, new here, just researching 3 series sedans because I am looking to purchase over the next couple months. I am not looking to go new, not willing to take the "loss" when it is driven off the lot. That being said, I am looking at either an 06 330i sport or an 07 335i sport. I don't think I will "need" the power output of the 335i although it would be nice. I am looking for reliability and comfort with that legendary BMW driving experience. I just do not know if it is worth the extra 3-5k for the hp that I may never need or use. I will more than likely be keeping the car for a long time since that is how I am so I am not sure a twin turbo is the direction I want to go. I would hate to have to rebuild turbos. I live in the north but have two other cars to drive in the winter so winter handling is not a concern, although the heated seats would be nice!

So, that being said, anyone have real world experience with both the 06 and the 07 versions who can shed a little life experience on this decision? I have seen some lower mileage (less than 40k miles) going for low 20's as compared to medium mileage 335i's going for upper 20's. Kind of a no brainer but looking for real experience to help discern between the two....

Also, if you have any suggestions or warnings on what to look for in these cars, that would be great too!

Hi, I bought my 2006 330i new. It is the best car I have ever had. I always had Acuras or Maximas previously. The car is so solid compared to the Japanese models.

Anyways, I've always regretted not getting the 335i. Had the salesperson told me that the 2007's would have 300 hp I would have waited. The cars are exactly the same save for the engine.

I love my car. The only complaint is that she is slow on the bottom end. Once you are up to speed she is great. Excellent and stable on the freeway. Great handling and always gets a second look.

The 335i can be upgraded by Dinan to have 385 hp and more torque. There is no great upgrade besides cold air intake and exhaust to have more horsepower.

I just find that in the 335i there is usable power everywhere in the rev band. I was recently looking at a new 2009 and the only changes were the side mirrors, hood lines, wheels, led tail and head light markers, and some chrome around the radio knobs.

If the money difference wasn't so much I'd jump at a 335i. I only have 12000 miles on my car. I never drive her in the winter. I know she will be a great car for years to come but in the back of my mind I am always going........if only.........
