Hi, I’m new to the forum, got my 325Ci SE Coupe Y reg on Friday and glad to be in the club.
Have a few questions, which I hope someone out there is able to help me with.
1) By holding the button on the remote control you are able to open and close the windows in the locking and unlocking procedure, but when closing only the front window s close, leaving the two rear window still open, anyway to have them all close?
2) Is there a way to make the car beep when arming (locking) the car, without having to go to a dealership?
3) And lastly I am not sure if my wing mirrors are electric folding or not, this may sound silly, but my driver’s side mirrors are able to be pushed up by hand, as they do if it was electric. I have never seen manual mirrors being able to do this. I can not move my passenger side mirror at all. I have searched the car high and low for an extra button to fold them in just encase it was not a proper fixing. It is defiantly not on the driver door switch which is the normal place. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for the help
Pict below is same model as my car. will try and get some pict as soon as
1. My car opens and closes all windows at the same time. I'd ask the dealer about that. If you put the key in the lock and hold it in either direction the all the windows go up and down?
2. The car will not beep because it doesn't have an alarm. It's only pre-wired for it so just the lights blink.
3. My mirrors are fixed. I haven't seen any auto-foldable mirrors.
1. Yes mine does the same - it just does that is the responce by the dealer - you can get them to shut by locking with the key in the door and holding it for a while. - my car is only a few months old so its not because you have an older model!
2. Yes if you have the alarm you can get the dealer to do this - my car has an alarm and it does not beep. - I leave early in the morning so it does not bother the niegbours.
1. Not sure in other locations, but US spec'd E46 series only has remote open windows. There is no such thing as remote close. (due to safety reasons)
2. No beeps? This applies to two things: #1 you do not have the alarm or #2 your alarm is not set for 'beep notification'. Either get an alarm if you do not have it or go to the dealer for them to get the settings you want.
3. Auto fold mirrors are offered in selected countries. (or special request). The button is next to the mirror selection switch. (On driver side arm rest, there is a big triangle button...that is for mirror movement, there is a switch that selects left or right mirror, and for the auto fold, a little square button next to the mirror select switch.)
My US E46 has auto close windows. Either by button, or by holding the lock button on the remote for a long time or by putting the key and holding it in the lock position.

the key in the door works.
possibly bmw has finally addressed the 'complaint' that many of us had and included in their new 04 models.
Works like a champ. The conv will also close the top and put up the windows from the key. It's a pain. You have to be right next to the car. Using the key in the lock is much better.
Tried the key in the lock, which has no effect on my windows this may be because it’s a uk spec, and it seems there are different rules between the uk and us safety regulations. E.g. the fact that I’m able to close and open my windows by remote
Didn’t get an opportunity to test alarm properly yet, was going to try the old fashioned arm test by leaving window open and waving hand about inside after a 1min. It does beep continuously if I leave the window open and lock the car so that may be part of it. Think I will leave it next time for longer and see what happens, hoping to actually hear the acoustic siren sound instead of beeping.
I picked up my brand new 325ci se last night and almost immediately noticed that the rear windows don't close automatically when I use the remote. Annoying. I'll prompt the dealer about it again, but his words were "It's like that". I'm not sure he was completely clued up about it thought.
It's not too serious for me either way -- this is really just a feature I'll use to show off to my friends in the first month or two anyway

Just thought I'd add to the post that certain earlier model e46's with a early ZKE (body module) sw level could close the windows via remote. This feature was removed very soon after by BMW engineering as a safety measure with the thinking that it is unsafe to be closing windows via remote (ie: you could trap a small child's arm or leg if closing via remote and not paying attention.)
Actually they do, but theyre just not satisfied with that being enough i guess. They have either pressure strips or amperage draw anti-trap protection depending on year and model.
