aschueler is an unknown quantity at this point
I don't have the vehicle quite yet -- should be this week, but after months of trying to make my damn mind up I finally bought a 330Ci with the performance package.

Since I occasionally take road trips along the southeast, my vehicles tend to get biggish insects that splat across the front bumper and hood, sometimes etching the paint. Since the is going to be by far the finest vehicle I have owned, I want to protect the front end mainly for trips at highway speeds, but not necessarily all the time.

There are two items from BMW I am looking at; once is the clear plastic-like adhesive that is semipermanent, and the other is the old fashioned 'bra' -- leather/fabric and velcro that can be removed or placed as needed.

Does anyone have any experience with the clear plastic type coating, specifically with long term use on waxing, washing, etc and removal of this? Will this go through changes/stains/etc, or pull parts of the paint off when it is removed? Will a ding large enough to penetrate the plastic leave rents behind that flap around?

Thanks in advance.
