I believe the starter on my 325xi has gone out. Yesterday it was cranking really slow and eventually died. Now this morning nothing. With the headlights on and the key is turned the lights don't dim. I took the battery out and had it tested and it tested good. I also tried to jump the car off of my Ford Superduty diesel and nada.
Where is the starter located on this car? I'm very mechanically inclined so I should be able to do the job, but just not sure.
Okay, it didn't really help me all that much. It looks like the starter is under the intake manifold on the driver side of the motor. Anyone else have any suggestions before I have it towed to the dealer?
Had it towed to the BMW dealer yesterday. Got the call today that it is the starter, and also the water pump is leaking (I saw fluid when I was under it) The good news is I remembered we bought a very good extended warranty that includes EVERYTHING short of sheet metal damage and brake pads, so everything is covered.
