Navigation level is too low

I have a 2006 330i (purchased used) with Nav and the audio level is very low when it gives directions. I would have swore that the level was much higher prior to the battery being disconnected for a security alarm installation. I checked all of the menus and can't find a way of turning it louder.

Any ideas how the audio volume can be increased?

So it does not go up at all if you turn the volume up?

Yes, the volume knob doesn't seem to impact the audio level for the Nav system. I know the dealer had to update software for the security system so I wasn't sure if this caused the change. I checked everything in the iDrive configuration and there are no settings for volume level.

I read a thread once where the aux output volume had a separate control, 1-6, w/ 6 being the loudest, and people would occasionally find this volume reset to 1. When this happened, their aux output (i.e. iPods, etc.) volume was quite low. There was a series of buttons to push to get access to control this voluem. This was on e46's, but perhaps your situation is something like it. Search threads on e46fanatics (think they have an e90 section?) or bimmerfest, they've got a lot of audio experts, you might find a thread.

It looks like I found the solution to the issue. I ended up finding it in the manual.

The volume can only be adjusted while a voice instruction is being issued. That is a little tricky given that you don't know when it is going to speak, your are driving and planning to turn at the same time.

I will try it the next time I use it. Thanks for those he tried to help.
