just like the 318 is really a 319
and a old 528e was really a 527
or the 325e was really a 327
or the 1997 540i is really a 544
bmw's history is full of things like that.
the 325is on e36's is a 2 door but doesnt necessarily have sports package, whereas a e30 325is is also a 2 door but does have the sports package.
ci(coupe),
ic(convertible),
cic(convertible coupe),
ti (hatch),
it (touring wagon),
is(sports package, or 2 door),
ix(awd, old),
xi(awd, new),
iL(lwd, old),
Li(lwd, new)....
it goes on forever.
year to year they rarely are able to descide on keeping things like that the same
