What could it possible be? When i start the car it sounds sick! It shakes when it idl's and it only has 20,000 miles i hardly drive it!! Its not the gas because my tank is half full and havent had problems untill now. it stalled on me also i just started it up and started to go again! Any ideas on what is going on would help me much i just dont wanna pay out my pocket big time at the bmw dealer its a lease!! i recently chaned my blinker bulb but i highly dont think that has anything to do with the problem!

did you have the oil changed recently? sounds like a vacume leak, make sure your oil cap is tight and the dipstick is pushed in all the way. if you need further help email me.

Actually I had the oil changed on October 28th. Can that be it?

Any other suggestions? I took a road trip to Washington three weeks ago. On the way back in Maryland I filled up so by the time I got home I had half a tank left. Since then I drove a few blocks each day to the gym and once for about 20 miles to Brooklyn. The same gas has been in my car for three weeks. I start my car even if I am not using it, but it has gotten little use. Can 3 week old gas be a problem?

[/quot I have had those symptoms twice, each with different problems/solutions.

1. At about 20K the dealer replaced a coil (No. 5 I believe). Problem solved.
2. About 2 weeks ago (76K) replacing the spark plugs solved the problem AND brought back some zip I hadn't realized I had lost.

Hope this helps.

This happened to my wife with her 2003 325xi -- ignition coils had to be replaced (it was on an advisory bulletin or whatever -- kinda like a recall -- anyway). This was about eight months ago. Just three days ago, my 2004 325xit had same problem (just 13K miles). You guessed it -- bad ignition coils. Both times we went to dealer within day of the occurrance and both times fixed at no charge (as it should be -- both cars are covered to 48K or 4 years, as I recall, on pretty much any problem) and we both got the BMW loaners (also as it should be).

I work for a dealer, and you need a set off coils the deal should have fitted a set if they are over a set age anyway. If the coil is made by BREMMI and before 41/02 this is marked on top of the coils then they all must be change. Or local dealer should still do this under BMW good will as it's a known fault.

Had the "service engine soon" lite come on and the 2003 325xi was running rough and had no power. Dealer replaced all Bremmi coils (6) under warranty, as there's a service bulletin on these, new coils are made by bosch.]

My problems were fixed by replacing the Camshaft intake position sensor. I was experiencing poor gas mileage, loss of power, random stalling. Do you have a diagnostic tool? Those should be standard equipment when you buy a Bimmer now-a-days.
