Maintaining that "BMW smell"

Every used car I test drove recently from several official BMW distributors had the same, pleasant, interior "new car" scent. It isn't leather, because they all had "leatherette", so it must have been some cleaner or interior wax used, either on the seats, carpets, or trimmings. Anyone know what it was ? I've had my car 3 weeks now, and the scent is fading... I'd like to bring it back. Perhaps on the same topic, what does one use to clean "leatherette" - any vinyl cleaner ?.... could I use a leather cleaner ?

well...i dunno what it is..but my certified pre owned bmw STILL has the new car smell in it. and its been 2 years now! i have leatherette.

when i clean my interior..i restrain myself on using chemicals. i just use water. but sometimes...when chemicals are needed, i use Lexol for everything. Dash, plastics, even my seats

Well...in 4 years...my car still has that "BMW" smell. I think it is the objects that are used to build the car because EVERY BMW from the Z3 to the 7-series have all smelled just the same that I have been in. If you've ever noticed, Lexus has a very distinct smell as well.
