M24 or M27. What's the difference?

I've got a 2000 323i (E46) and I see different torque values given for tightening the axle nut on my car. How do I know if I've got the M24 or M27?

isherdholi will become famous soon enough
I would have thought you would have an M52 or M54 - I have an E46 320i, which in the UK, replaced the 323i - It has the same bhp and torque. The engine in mine is a 2.2L I6 M54.

(i think)
