Low oil! what's up? - BMW Forum

I need some help...my '02 330i, 10,000 miles, suddenly indicates low oil...I check it out and it is indeed just below the add line, needing one full quart oil....why would a fairly new car be burning oil?...no evidence of a leak....I'm no mechanic, but this seems odd.....should i be overly concerned....I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow

this is pretty common... Just add oil... No biggie... Do you have an automatic?

shouldn't be REALLY doing this, when was the last oil change (kmls)?

i would not stress too much over this, i quart between changes is not terrible if it stays like this. some engines do this for tens of thousands of miles... have them check compression if you're paranoid...

i'd check carefully for a leak first.

Had the same problem with an 03' 5 spd 330i. Low oil. Though I had to add almost 2 quarts at around 6k miles. Hasn't gotten any lower in the last 4k miles. No signs of an oil leak. Whatever it was must have happened early on.
