Loss of power during drive

this is new to me.

while i was driving along on the freeway, all of a sudden, my power goes out!!

the engine kept going, but everything else went out, my radio, my nav, and cluster unit shut down. this was only for maybe 15-20 seconds and then everything came back on. did not affect my driving at all as i was still going, but i had to reset my clock and date and also, my MPG and average speed resetted back to zero.

any idea what caused this? should i take it back to the service?

that is crazy take it to the stealer... Alternator or Battery problem? Possibly wiring?

you got that right. i was like WTF?

they checked all the wiring and connections. everything was fine. alternator and battery were both fine. they ran a diagnotics. but they were unable to determine the cause. they wanted me to make a note of it if it happens again.

if you figure this out, tell that guy with the 1991 850i, he had the same problem (posted recently).
