I am looking into a factory alarm for my 99 323i, and it will be around $200.00 new. I have read both that you will have to take your car to the dealer for them to program the onboard computer to accept this(est cost $50). I have also read that once you install the three components(car is pre-wired) that you can just hit the key remote and the system will beep, and the alarm will be set. Can anyone give me info on their experience(on my model or any model), and if they had to visit the dealer? Trying to find out if I will have pay the additional $50 to have it set. Thanks
