Looking to buy a 2000 323i

Hello all!

This is my first post on this site. Just looking at what everyone is saying about buying used BMW's. This will be my first after owning American cars my whole life. I've found a great deal on a great 2000 323i. Dark green, tan leather, clean....excellent car. It's sitting around 90,000 miles. Any tips on what I should be looking for in this car with the miles? Any large repairs in my future? Checked it out on Carfax and everything looks great!! 1-owner! Looking forward to your replies!

Our 113,000 mile 2000 323I has been fairly problem free. I've replaced the plugs. Upgraded the ignition coils. Replaced the battery, fuel filter, windshield washer pump. Most of these are normal maintenance items. Non maintenance items to watch for are suspension parts. I had new tires installed recently and new swaybar links. When the technician went to install the rear swaybar links he found both rear coil springs were broken. New springs set us back $320.00. If you can wrench on cars yourself I would recommend a Bentley service manual. It has saved us hundreds of dollars in repair costs. I'm not trying to scare you out of buying the car just beware of the cost of taking the car to a dealer to get repairs done. Good luck!!

Thanks for tips. I've turned a couple wrenches in my life, but only on American cars, Oldsmobiles and such. Car was owned by a doctor for it's life, so I'm assuming he took care of it, which hopefully he did. Thanks again,
