I hoping to be able to get a 99+ model for around 13k. I want a 2 door stick, i've been told the 325i is the best model, fast and reliable.

what varies between the different models?

or maybe even the 330 :P personally i would be looking at a 328i

Ci=Coupe
last 2 numbers=engine size
xi=All Wheel Drive (AWD)

Things you need to know:
The E46 coupe only arrived as a 2000 model, E46 sedans are 1999+. If you find a 1999 3series coupe, it will be the old E36 model

Given your price range, you are likely looking at a 2000 323CI with sport package and 60Miles+

Keep in mind, last 2 numbers are not awlays engine size (BMW plays games with these numbers):
323=2.5L 170hp 6 cyl engine (1999-2000)
325=2.5L 184hp 6 cyl engine (2001+)
328=2.8L 192hp 6 cyl engine (1999-2000)
330=3.0L 225/235hp 6 cyl engine (2001+)

I saw a 99 323i Coupe, 5 speed, with 65k miles for $13,900, that is a good bargain. I recently bought a 2000 323i with 50kmiles for 18,500. You might be able to find a 98 328i with like 65-70k miles for $13,000.

Ahem!! Keep in mind that 1999 model coupe is the old E36 body style

man, i like the new models so much better, any chance i can get any of the models in a new body style??

wont the 2000 323 be a 4 door

also i really wanted the top performance out of it, so now im thinking an older 328is, with like 60k miles.

really want the two door

anyways they dont look to bad right, whats a m3 bumper and halo headlights upgrades gonna cost me?

Yeah, I'd go with the newer bodystyle...I like them better.

I don't think I've seen a 323i...not sure...

I've definately seen a 323Ci...which are not bad either.

Ok. The E46 4 door came out in 1998 as a 1999 model. The Coupe came out in 1999 (2000 model).

My advice is make sure is has 6 cylinders and a stick (forget the auto.)

For the price of a 2000 323i, you can get a 1997/8 M3. Food for thought?

13k is not that much for an e46... you will probablly be happier with an e36 ///M

I got a 2001 325i with 30,000 miles with sports package for 20k. Still on warranty...do y'all think this is a decent deal?
