Where did you last get gas? How long has it been since you changed the fuel filter? Techron is one of the best fuel system additives so give that a try. What oil are you using?

Thanks for your response,
unfortunately I can only tell or answer on the oil type- its Meguin oil. 15w-40
the car was bought used and not sure of the fuel filter.
the sound is quite similar to an engine thats experiencing an overheat prob
still hear the knocking sound just a little unlike when its switched on
when engine is cold, I dont hear it at all,
just when I press the gas peddal swiftly or suddenly (dunno the right phrase to use) but I am sure many of u would understand what I mean.
just to add that it seems to loose power @ initial take off, most likely on the 2nd gear.
I ve never used a BMW before, maybe I was too expectant cant really say, but I feel awkward not being able to challenge a 4 cylinder Honda accord as we take off @ d same time...
Take the car to a local auto parts store and borrow and OBD code scanner they can usually do it for free. If a code is stored you'll know. What oil do you use?

Meguin? Never heard of it. Which means its not on the BMW LL01 approved oils list. I would recommend switching to one of the approved oils and see if that makes a difference. I've heard certain oil weights can cause lifter noises.
No, not at all. Their was a post there before that has now been deleted. It was just spam.
ok then...
meanwhile, I borrowed a scan tool to check - and I got 5 codes-
P1135
P1138
P1152
P1156,
P0601
The first 4 were related to O2 sensor , while the last says its the ECU,
I have also read on a similar thread, these codes all at a go could mean a fuse failure in the ECU- (30amp) fuse on slot 4 - this I understand controls the Oxygen sensors. I hope to check this fuse later.
I wonder what could cause a failure to all the four O2 sensors all at a go.
Have you experience this sort of codes at once before?
I did got my scan tool... (BMW scanner 1.4), below is the code I got.
Exhaust temperature before catalyst, bank 1, signal line, short circuit to negative
Exhaust temperature after catalyst, bank 1, signal line, short circuit to negative
Exhaust temperature before catalyst, bank 2, signal line, short circuit to negative
Exhaust temperature after catalyst, bank 2, signal line, short circuit to negative
when I clear the error logs, the check engine light goes off, and the error codes disappears, after a rescan, it gives same error.
