Just got a 330i zhp

I recently purchased a 03 330I with what I believe from doign some research has the zhp package is there anyway to tell this for sure with the vin or any other numbers? I got the car I love it only has 50k miles on it has all service records on the carfax report from bmw dealers. The only problem I'm having with the car is at highway speeds around 80mph in 6th gear is between 2k-3k rpm the is some bucking or a slight miss but once pass 3k rpm no problems at all. Any info on this would be great.

zhp's are so nice, i want one badly! congrats on yours! any pics?

i thought ZHP's started in 2004, yet the production date on yours is june 2003. altho if it is a 6 speed, than maybe.

zhp's also have a tighter more aggressive suspension, a short shifter, 18" rims, and a nice little aero kit. additionally, it uses alpina cams to get that 10hp and 8 lb/ft of power gain. the inside might have alcantara and the aluminum cube trim. the gauge needles are also supposed to be red.

The ZHP started with the 2003 model year. Also, the 6-speed transmission is not the way to tell all ZHP's apart, given that it was an option for all 330's starting in 2004. You should be able to find out about the installed options if you provide them with VIN. There are a few things that I could tell you to look at that were exlusive to the ZHP, but the truth is that they could easily be installed on a non-ZHP. However, there is a good chance your car is teh ZHP if: it is an ///m color, such as mystic blue, imola red, or silverstone grey; if the interior seating surfaces are cloth/alcantara (although ppl could get leather as an option, so this one is hard to tell); if you have an alcantara or perforated leather wrapped three-spoke ///m steering wheel; tachometer 6800 rpm redline instead of 6500; with red gauge needles.

Welcome

330 ZHP Performance Package (USA), Club Sport Package (UK) (Later changed to M-SPORT)
In January 2003, at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, BMW of North America introduced the 330i Performance Package, order code ZHP. This was a trim level upgrade that included engine modifications for an increase of 10 hp (7 kW) and 8 lb·ft (11 N·m) of torque and a redline increase to 6,800 rpm (from 6,500 in the regular 330i). The ZHP option also provided a 6-speed short-throw manual transmission, a higher final drive ratio and speed limiter setting, a suspension tuned for better handling, and various BMW M exterior trim elements as well as an interior similar to that of the M3. The color option of Imola Red replaces Electric Red when ordering with ZHP Performance Package, which is usually only available in the M-series. Europe received slightly more cosmetic upgrades with their version, the Club Sport Package available only for the 330Ci (Coupe) models.

Specific details on the order package include:

Sport suspension

Double Spoke (Styling 135M) cast alloy wheels, 18 x 8.0 front, 18 x 8.5 rear;,225/40R-18 front, 255/35R-18 rear performance tires

M Aerodynamic package

Reinforced right & left front lower control arms

Matte stainless steel, 35 mm dual exhaust pipes

High-gloss shadowline trim

8-way power front sport seats with 2-way manual headrests and thigh support; 3-driver memory for exterior mirror and seat positions; automatic tilt-down of passenger’s side-view mirror when vehicle is shifted into reverse gear

Alcantara/cloth upholstery

Anthracite interior headliner

M 3-spoke Alcantara-wrapped multi-function sport steering wheel with fingertip cruise, audio and accessory phone controls

Aluminum “black cube” interior trim

Tachometer with 300 rpm-higher redline and red needle

Short, sport gearshift lever

3.07 gears in rear differential

.5 degrees camber all around

No 128 mph (206 km/h) governor (155 mph top speed).
Special Club Sport (Euro Only)
Front bumper splitters
GT rear wing
Door sills
Clubsport Style 18" rims with 225/40R18 front, 255/35R18 rear performance tires
Estroil Blue Exterior Paint
The ZHP package was available on mid-2003 330i sedans, all 2004-2005 330i sedans, and mid 2004-2006 330Ci coupes & convertibles. It has become a highly sought-after model due to its unique modifications. Car and Driver magazine track-tested the car, which returned a 0-60 mph time of 5.6 seconds and passed through the 1/4 mile in 14.2 seconds.

^^^ bucking, thats interesting, but i dont really know.

i do know that some ZHP's are being brought back to the dealers because of a rattling noise being caused by irregularities on the alpina cams (the cam bearings i believe). BMW replaced the first few under warranty but are now saying its normal operation. i can only imagine that at speed that can cause some irregularities.
