just baught a 1999 328i need a little help... thanks!!!
i just got a 1999 328i 2 days ago... it didn't have an owners manual... (btw does anyone know where i can pick one up?) i don't know how to set the clock... also does anyone have like a instrament cluster diagram that tells you what each of the lights mean? theres a light on but i don't know what it means.... thanks!
if it is an E46, then you turn the plastic/rubber knob thats on your instrument cluster(the right one..the left resets your mileage) to the left or right and it sets your time.
knob between tach and temp gauge.

so i don't push it... i twist it... this is very different from my 1997 328i w/ the computer below the stereo... thanks! also do you know where i can find a .pdf user manual? do they have those? can you tell me what the cluster lights mean? will they be similar to the 1997? i have the manual to the 1997... thank you!!!!
This is the owner's manual for a 2000 3 Series. I can't imagine them being much (if at all) different. By the way, all I did was log into the BMW Owner's Circle and ran a search for it. They don't have any manuals prior to 2000.

ok but i will have to wait because i let my grams borrow it... i'm only 17 and she needs it during the week more than i do... so i will have those pics later today... can someone take a pic of their panel when it turns the lights on for a bulb test?? (when you turn the key to position 2) it's on the bottom left corner... i think it might be coolant...
i checked it... it's fine... i am kinda a mechanic.... (just not certified)... i come a family with a long line of mechanics/car freaks.. (my grandpa loves his M5 more than my grandma...) LOL.... j/k
So the manual did not clear it out for you? I get the feeling you did not download it from the link I gave you.
If the indicator light looks like a radiator with a low water line, then it is a low coolant warning. If you have a green light that looks like a light reflector on the right shooting some light diagonally left and to the bottom, then that is your fog light indicator. If it is the windshield washer fluid level indicator, then it will look like a spring of water superimposed over the depiction of a widshield (generally an arched shape). I imagine you would not have asked if you had a "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light, and wuld have expected you mentioning the letters if you had the "EML" light.
Those are all the lights on the lower left.

i clicked on the link you gave me and it says too many connections... i will keep on trying... it's not the fog light... it's not the washer fluid... so it must be the low coolant light... i will double check if it has coolant in the reserveoir and in the radiator... so why is the light still on if it does have coolant... is there a way to reset it? thanks...
PM me with your email address so I can send it to you. You need to be able to receive a 1.7 MB attachment. You can always just get it by creating an account with the BMW owner's circle. It is free
This is the coolant light:

There have been many a "whining noise" coming from the 1999, 2000 3-series. Where's this whine coming from?
Aside from that, my "low coolant" light has also started coming on when I first start the car in the mornings. Only on the particularly cold days and it's only on for about 30 seconds before it turns off. I attribute it to the cold weather.
