I am new here and currently own a 06' IS350. I made some minor mods to it and have considering trading up for a M3 or a 335i. When I bought the IS350 the 335i had just come out. There were only 4 on the lot and he wasn't willing deal at the end of the year. I found this hard to believe since it was December. Are most BMW's that hard to negotiate with? I ended getting the last 06 IS on the lot and paid 500 under invoice. The price difference was about 12 grand between the new IS350 and 335i. At the time it seemed like it was an easy choice but I wish I had a stick and I somewhat bored with my car. I realize this is a Bimmer site so I am curious how you guys view those two cars.
Well, the Lexus is an amazing car. Nothing to be disappointed in. But I love bimmers. The new 335i is artwork. Especially the convertible and the way the top operates. You won't be disappointed in the BMW. They don't have the lifter problems that the other 3 series cars currently have. The N54 is a great motor and appears to be very strong. And there are plenty of mods available. Just stay away from the Dinan exhaust system as it appears to make no difference in the vehicle.
How much is the Dinan chip for that car? Also, how much hp does it add? I took a drive in one and loved the manual transmission on that 335i. It is sweet!

i installed one in a customers car two months ago and man it was awesome. it was wet outside but you could still tell. they guy said he spun the tires from a roll in third gear. dunno if thats true, but either way, it hauled ass. And this software is not legal in CA. But we threw it in before we were notified otherwise.
there is a piggy back system out there somewhere (forget the name) that is dyno proven to add 120whp and 130lb/ft. the car will run low 12's on street tires. but unless you are good with electrical, it will void your warranty.
IS is more luxury. You cant beat that leather and interior feeling. As for the driving...the IS feels like a civic with more balls and a cushy ride(im sure it holds in the corners though). The 335 is a beast waiting to eat you alive. (Cept the one wheely peelys)
