I just bought my 2000 323Ci 5 speed like a week ago, it is currently at 61,200 miles. On my dash display it says 1500 miles to Inspection. Would this be inspection 1 or inspection 2 according to the warranty manual?? Whats the deal with these inspections, are they periodic, or are there only 2 over the lifetime of the vehicle??? I read in the warranty manual that there are 2 inspection types, how often are these to be performed and can I take it to another BMW mechanic to save money rather than having the dealership do it?? Thanks - Darren

I have a 1999 328i and when I power the car on I get a number that shows me how long 'till inspection. For me at 0 miles It's time for an 'oil change' at which time they will tell me if I need additional service based on milage.

After they reset this timer It usually goes to 11k miles 'till next oil change 'cause it's synthetic oil.

For yur vehicle I would imagine the two inspections (I and II) mustve been already completed. That info can be also obtained from the CARFAX report of your vehicle if you can a hold of one. Also Inspection just means some inspection is coming up in 1500 miles does not mean that big one. Once those 1500 miles are up you will get another warning on the left hand side saying OIL CHANGE.....or something like that. If there is something flashing on the left opf the number then you are overdue for some change by that many miles.......make sure that isnt so.........hope this helps.
