I have a 2000 328i and intermittently when I insert ignition key and rotate nothing will occur - no engine rotation. I can cycle the ignition key and most times it will not help. I have tried moving the automatic drive select back and forth to make sure it is in Park and this does not help. Sometimes I just need to remove key and reinsert and it will start, but sometimes I can sit there for 5 minutes trying until it finally starts. Any suggestions on what could be causing this? Thanks-Gregg
I was initially thinking there would be multiple "no-go" switches installed in various areas so if there is a switch in the transmission linkage then it could possibly need adjustment. I will also check into the starter as well. Appreciate your input.
You are funny! We have a three day weekend here in the states this weekend, but I will have to go into work tomorrow for a bit. If I have time over this long weekend I want to dig into this starting issue and see if it is a switch adjustment. It seems I never have enough time to get all the things done that need to be done. Although I love my BMW, I also like American Muscle cars. I have a 1998 Cobra Mustang convertable. This weekend I am scheduled to look at a 1971 429 Mustang MACH1 that is for sale!!!
I also checked out where in the UK Barnsley is located and you are a ways north. I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath many moons ago and use to go to Nottingham often and you are north of Nottingham. Happy driving my friend.
