Ignition lock tamper with please HELP

HI,

Unfortunately I left the door open on the car (2002 325i) last night. It looks like someone tried to tamper with the key ignition lock. They managed to pull of the first plastic cover the then the next ring which has 2 wires attached was pulled off as well. Now both rings will snap back on but I am unable to turn the key or the steering wheel. Have they done some real damage? Or is there a code that can me entered to unlock the ignition. I am 3 hours from the nearest BMW dealership and would love to fix it myself.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear that man. It sounds like they might have broke the EWS ring in the process, which will disable the ignition as it's suppose to. The only fix that I can think of is to replace the EWS ring, probably at the dealer.
