Ignition Coil Problem

I have a 2003 330Ci and a week ago after starting the car, I could feel that one or more of the cylinders weren't firing.. The engine check light came on and all that jazz so I took it in for servicing.. Apparantly THREE of the six ignition coils were burned out and had to be replaced which they happily did (thanks to the warranty) but this is really scary.. How can a car that's only a year old and has less than 20k miles on it end up with half its ignition coils failing? Has this problem happened to any of you guys, and if so should I be worried? These are the issues that scare me- you'd think after blowing all that money on the car I wouldn't have to worry about stupid things like this... Thanks for any input you can provide!!

I have a 99 323 and the same thing happened to me (albeit a little later in the car's life).

It was an incredibly frustrating experience, as I also had two spark plugs go bad, the camshaft positioning sensor go bad, almost all at the same time, but they masked one another. It took 5 trips to my mechanic to get it fixed!!! ghead ghead ghead

I finally relented, and replaced all 6 coils and spark plugs just so that I wouldn't keep having problems...
